Sejak lama sudah dilakukan dengan berbagai cara upaya pemberantasan korupsi di Indonesia, berbagai macam sanksi pun sudah diperberat, namun nihil usaha yang dilakukan terlihat sia – sia. Hampir setiap hari kita masih mendengar dan membaca adanya berita tentang korupsi. KPK memiliki tugas koordinasi dengan instansi yang berwenang melakukan pemberantasan Tindak Pidana Korupsi (TPK).
Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi mempunyai 4 (empat) bidang, yaitu:
1. Deputi Bidang Pencegahan
2. Deputi Bidang Penindakan
3. Deputi Bidang Informasi dan Data, dan
4. Deputi Bidang Pengawasan Internal dan Pengaduan Masyarakat

Pemberantasan korupsi tidak cukup dilakukan hanya dengan komitmen semata karena pemberantasan korupsi merupakan pekerjaan yang cukup sulit. BPKP dalam buku SPKN (Strategi Pemberantasan Korupsi Nasional) telah menyususn strategi yang perlu dilakukan, yaitu sebagai berikut :
Strategi Preventif : Langkah-langkah yang harus dilakukan agar semaksimal mungkin dapat mencegah terjadinya korupsi.
