Salah satu keistimewaan yang terdapat di bulan Sya’ban ini adalah dijadikannya sebagai bulan Sholawat. Dalam kitab Madza fii sya’ban dijelaskan, dikatakan sebagai bulan Sholawat dikarenakan pada bulan Sya’ban ini turun ayat Al-Qur’an yang berbunyi:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ۚ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا (الأحزاب : ۵٦)
